my ice maker has stopped. I checked the water line, all clear. the little bar that checks for ice in the way doesnt sweep for ice, and I guess that in turn doesnt send a signal to the selinoid to open up and send the water. any ideas? or do I need a complete new ice maker?

Check the water valve at the back of the fridge.

Can you please verify your model number?

It should be on a tag in the fridge section with the serial number.
