Default Iced up freezer
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: GSS201EPD WW
Age: 1 - 4 years

I worked on these years ago but not now so I have a couple questions. The freezer coil is iced up and was wondering what I should order. Use to be a defrost timer but I don't think so now. Parts I see is the heater and a defrost thermo. Would this be correct? Also a while back I lost the water in door. Ice maker works. Is there a solenoid or is it the water value? Is it a 2-way or how does it work? Many many Thanks Guys. Short on money and just trying to save. Ben

Your model number doesn't show it. but if you have the adaptive board it probably controls the defrost cycle. The owners may tell how to put it in the defrost mode so you can observe the heaters and know if they and the defrost thermostat work.

The water comes through a dual solenoid (water inlet valve) at the back of unit.

Cold air enters the fridge through a damper or vent between the freezer and fridge. The evaporator fan in or behind the freezer blows the air through. There is an adjustment to open and close this vent to allow more or less cold air in.

Find the vent and see if fan is blowing air in.
