Default Ice yes - water no
Brand: Please select
Model Number: GSS22WGPAWW
Age: 1 - 4 years

The water dispenser stopped working but the ice maker continues to make ice. The owners guide says this condition means the water reservoir is frozen and you should call for service. I changed the water filter as the light had been on for about a month. The light was orange - not red. The water dispenser stopped working before I changed the filter. Changing the filter did not correct the problem. When I try to dispense water I can hear a electrical buzzing noise similar to when it was working.

A neighbor had a problem with a frozen water or ice dispenser that resulted in a burst supply line and $10,000 in damage to hardwood floors from flooding.

I'm going to turn the refrigerator off for a day and see if the water starts flowing. Any suggestions on what the problem is?

thanks

There is a problem with one brand in particular with the water dispenser line freezing inside the door. To see if this is your problem disconnect the water line at its junction under the front just before it goes through the hinge into the door. Try the water switch and if water comes out where you disconnected it , it's probably frozen in the door. Use a hairdryer at the dispenser and maybe raising the temp in the freezer a little will help prevent refreezing.
The water reservoir is located behind the crisper in the fridge.

Thanks for the advice. I left the refrigerator off over night and the water dispenser was working fine in the morning - so I guess the problem was a frozen line. Thanks for the info on the location of the line.
