Default Ice works, no water
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: GSH25KGRB
Age: 1 - 4 years

I have water all the way to the connection at the door at the bottom, tried replacing the filter and the icemaker still works with no trouble. Has anyone had a service tech out to look at this problem as the GE site reccomends. I can't figure out why all of the sudden the water despensor would freeze up. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how this has happened or how I can avoid the $70 service visit?
Thanks.
Eric

I don't know why but they do. It can usually be thawed with a hairdryer blowing on the water line at the dispenser. Raising the freezer temp slightly may prevent it from happening again.

I agree with woodchuck regarding raising temperature. My water dispenser stops any time the freezer temperature goes a few degrees below zero (zero is supposedly optimum). My problem now is the compressor continues to run and freezer becomes colder with temp setting on warmest number (1). Its time to throw some more parts at beast.

I have tried the hairdryer for about 5 minutes directly at the back of the freezer door and also tried to raise teh temp on the freezer but seem to be having no luck. My next step is to defrost the entire freezer. Does anyone know if there is a part that can actually go bad or break that can cause this to happen?

I used heatgun (hairdryer temperature) for at least 30 minutes all along the suspected path of the water tube with no success. My wife had a small funnel as part of kitchen stuff which just fit into end of water dispenser tube. I appied heat to the funnel and dispenser worked in five minutes. However, it continues to refreeze because my temperature control is flaky and freezer temp goes to -10 or -15 before compressor shuts off. I found recommendation at another website to replace system board and I have one on order. I'll know more in next day or so.
