What part controls whether the ice is delivered "crusher" or "cubed?"

Ice is delivered "crushed" when either the "crushed" or "cube" switch is pressed in the door. Checking back into the freezer compartment, it appears that some solenoid is not functioning. A lever is in the down position (normal position)and this emits "cruched ice" in both modes now, but when manually pushed UPWARDS, cubes are emitted from the dispenser, not crushed ice. (After pushing the "cube" front door switch of course.) So my question is as stated above. What part is malfunctioning and not allowing the level to move into the UP or CUBE dispenser position?

Smile Ice maker problem fixed

The inability of the ice maker to deliver cubes was not caused by an inoperative solenoid. It resulted from a separation of two parts, one hard metal and one nylon. A spiral roller pin (#385) at the end of the plunger (#380) connected the plunger to a nylon part called a "Collar Solenoid Disp (collar) (#383)--the pin was twisted out of nylon part by some unknown force, resulting in an ineffective plunger, and this resulted in the inability of the dispensor to switch from the "crushed" mode to the "cubed" mode. Hence, no ice cubes but lots of crushed ice from the door dispenser.

[Numbers refer to the GE diagram drawing of this mechanism.]

I removed the whole unit (nice integral design) and worked on it outside the refrig. I was able to remove the spiral pin with a drift punch (maybe 1/16 inch, I think), then drill two new holes in the nylon collar so I could seat the spiral pin through the new holes using slight force from a hammer. The mechanism worked perfectely after reassembly inside the freezer compartment.

Thanks for your suggestion. It would have been correct had not the pin twisted out of the nylon housing.
