Question Ice mishapen and doesn't eject
Brand: Whirlpool
Model Number: ED2PHEXNQ00
Age: 1 - 4 years

We've decided to just buy a replacement ice maker - quicker and easier for us at this time.

Until a few weeks ago our icemaker was working perfectly. Now the ice cubes have an extra little "hook" on them and they don't eject. What's up?

Also, since new this is the noisiest ice dispenser I have ever used! I've check the bin and it is inserted completely/correctly. We're talking you can't talk, hear the TV, etc. because the dispenser is so loud. Are they all this loud for this model?

If the ice cubes have a different appearance then they use to it may because more water is coming in after the water starts to freeze.

You may have the same problem with the new ice maker.

The dispensers are fairly loud.

Is the loudness coming from the auger motor or just the sound of the ice being dispensed?

New ice maker just arrived and now installed. Waiting for first batch of ice. Hopefully we're back in business.

The noise when dispensing is from the auger churning in the bin. Loudest dispenser I've ever heard. Getting ready for kitchen remodel... this one will be going to garage.
