Default Ice maker yoke spins freely
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: MZD2766GEW
Age: 1 - 4 years

The ice maker yoke spins freely on the shaft. I read an earlier post and a reply stated that the yoke is threaded to the motor. Is it threaded to the shaft coming out of the motor? If so, I guess my yoke is "stripped"? Does that sound right?

Thanks, Rick

Default Think I've solved it

However, I still have a problem. The thread on either the yoke or the auger motor are stripped. It is left hand thread, but as it starts threading off of the shaft, it gets tight and binds up on the shaft (small metal shaving coming out, etc.) The motor then starts to turn, not allowing me to just force it off and see where the damage is. Ideas? (other than just buying a new motor and yoke?)
