Question Ice maker wont shut off
Brand: Hotpoint
Model Number: csh24grta aa
Age: More than 10 years

my ice maker in side by side refr. wont shut off. it makes ice good but when the arm[wire] goes up to the off position it will continue to make ice it dispenses the water and ice thru the door ok, any help or send me an e-mail telling me how to remove the ice maker please. i need step by step as im not too mechanically inclined, but i can do some. ty kindly. plus how does the front of the ice maker where the arm is come off? does it just pull off? im talking about the plastic front.

Sounds like the arm is not making the switch inside the ice maker even when it's all the way up. Look for two screws in freezer wall ice maker hangs on. loosen the screws and ice maker should lift off. Unplug wiring harness and remove ice maker. You may be able to adjust the arm or switch. Remove plastic cover to access inside of ice maker.

can you remove the plastic cover without taking ice maker out? i dont want to break anything. just thought if i could remove the plastic front, then i could see what is wrong maybe. ty

You may can remove it. On mine the cover just prys off. On some there are plastic pins you pull out to release it. You'll just have to look at yours and see. But it won't hurt anything.
