Default Ice Maker will not fill on its own
Brand: Kenmore
Age: More than 10 years

Does anyone have an idea as to why my ice maker won't fill?

The valve works when jumped and sufficiently fills the ice maker - so no valve problem or clogs in the water lines.

The cycle initiates on its own when the temperature drops - so no thermostat problem. The ice maker cycles and does everything BUT trigger the valve to open.

What's the deal??? Please help. I've already spend $100+ on a new ice maker and countless hours troubleshooting this thing. I will not let it beat me!!!

What is the temperature in the freezer section of the unit?

Can you please provide your model number?

Here is a link on how to test your ice maker.

It passes those tests. I ran them a few days ago. Note that I have used two different modules, and neither produces ice. Again, when cycling, what triggers the ice maker to fill? Thanks for your help so far.

Default It sound like no signal from ice maker to solenoid

To me (from what I have read trying to figure out my issue) is that you are not getting a signal from the ice maker to solenoid. Did try to see if the ohms meter was getting the appropriate reading in the connectors (that connect to the ice maker solenoid) after the ice make ejected the ice? I read that for 7 seconds there is a transmission that can be observed on a "multi tester". If the solenoid is not get this signal then it does not know to pump the water to the ice maker. I think they said it is the PC board if this happens . You said that you already jumped the solenoid right? Meaning you made the drinking water lever deliver water to the ice maker via the ice make solenoid? And that worked right?

I am testing this solenoid on mine tonight. Hopefully to get the problem resolved. It is beyond frustrating. Let me know what happens with yours.

Good luck-

Wink

I actually did not end up testing it. I just ordered a new solenoid water inlet fill valve and hook it up. It fixed the problem and was easy to change out. I ordered the part on e-bay for much cheaper.
