My ice maker makes ice and my water dispenser works. My front panel is lit and is switched on cubes. However, it only dispenses crushed ice. I have switched it back and forth between crushed and cubes but I still only get crushed. I emptied the bucket and inspected for obstruction and found none.

Do I have a solenoid switch problem or is there something else I should be looking for?

If it is a switch, where is it located and how do I test it?

There is a solenoid at the back of the ice bin.

You will need a meter to check the continuity of the solenoid.

How do I check to determine if the solenoid is bad? Do I need to unplug something? What will my readings be on the meter or are we just talking power?

The parts list included a triple value solenoid, is that the one we are talking about?

The triple valve is the water valve at the back of the fridge where the water line is hooked.

This is not the solenoid for the ice bin.

The solenoid for the ice bin is inside the freezer section attached to the bin that the ice is in.

Remove the wires hook to the solenoid.

You should a reading between 10 and 38 ohms.

If you do not get a reading the solenoid is faulty.
