Default Ice Maker stoped working
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: 106.54603300
Age: 1 - 4 years

My ice maker has stoped working. I checked to make sure that the water is flowing to the connection point at the bottom of the refridgerator and there is. I also checked the water line mid way up the back at a slip fitting and there is not water at that point (not sure if it only has water there when unit calls for water).

Here is additional information:

when the freezer door is open the infra red ice maker control blinks twice followed by a 1 second delay and repeats. When the Ice Control Sensor flapper is closed the light stays on.

I have also un-plugged the refridgerator for about 10 minutes to see if this might re-set it (I guess more of a computer thing to do!).

There is no ice cubes stuck in the fingers!

There is no ice build up any where in the unit.

Can you please review this issue and suggest a fix for the problem.

Thank you

Here is what I need you to do first. Look in at the Icemaker, and do you see where the black tube is, squeeze it, if you can squeese it, its Ok, if it is hard, defrost it, and everything will be fine. The other thing is, look at the fingers that knock the ice out. If the ice maker is good, they should be facing you. If not replace the ice maker head. If they are looking at you replace the emitter kit. Which is the little light that is blinking, and the reciever on the other side. They come together. If you need me you can reach me at my website at ApplianceEducator.com Tom

The black tube was frozen!, I defrosted it with a blowdryer and the Ice maker is back up and running.

Thank you very much for the simple fix!

What a Great service you provide!
