Default Ice Maker sometimes works sometimes not
Brand: Frigidaire
Model Number: GLRS64ZEB1
Age: 1 - 4 years

The icemaker sometimes works sometimes not. The problem is it quits making ice. I can't seem to find an exact match to this model number. It will start working if you flip the on/off control switch for a bit then it goes back to not working. Any advise would be great.

If your fridge is black you can use a 2 instead of the 1 at the end of your model number.

Most of the parts for your fridge would likely be the same.

Here is a link to the black fridge model GLRS64ZEB2.

Check the temperature in the freezer it has to be 5 degrees or lower for the ice maker to work.

I have turned down the temperature with no improvement. It seems like what ever tells the icemaker to cycle is not doing its job. Any ideas?

When you have an intermittent problem it is sometimes hard to find out what is causing your problem.

It may be that the temperature in the freezer is fluctuating.

The contact in the module may be bad.

You will have to check the contact in the module.

When my ice maker was doing like yours, I took the cover off and looked at the action of the on off switch. The switch wasn't quite being closed so I adjusted it or bent it so it would make contact.

Woodchuck - I will check the switch.

Sheila - What do you mean by the module? What contact? Please describe.

The module is the front part of the ice maker that houses the switches.

The contact are in the switches.

Have a look at the link I sent and look at the ice maker breakdown.

The switches are number 15 on the breakdown.
