Default Ice maker repair
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: 253.56522400
Age: 1 - 4 years

Having a problem with my ice maker. The ice maker will properly make one cycle of ice, then the ice maker will not continue to cycle. I know water is flowing and the gears are moving, but it seems to stop or hang up during the process. If I reach in and sightly tap the on/off arm downward the cycle will begin, but it will cycle only once and the stop or hang up again. Is there a fix?

Thanks

no the arm is definitely clear, but it does not fully drop down. I removed the entire unit and opened the gear assembly case and found nothing broken or worn (not that I knew what I was looking for anyway) Could a part be malfunctioning? Everything inside the unit appeared very simple to replace. What could be my next step?

Thanks

Look closely and see if you can see what it is getting hooked on.

Check the cam for burrs.

It is hard to say what is causing this with out seeing it.
