My ice maker has stopped for the third time. Have replaced it twice. The last time I replaced the ice maker it still didn't work, so I replace the water valve and it has worked fine for about 18 months.

Recently the water supply to the refrig was stopped off & on for about 2 days before I discovered that the water supply filter (before the refrig) was defective so replaced it.

Now the ice maker won't work again. How can I determine if the ice maker or the water valve is causing the problem?

Manually pour water into the ice mold and see if it goes through the cycle when it freezes.

Swap the wires on water valves and press water dispenser switch. Water should go to ice maker. Check water inlet valve here. Refrigerator Repair Guide: How to Check the Water Inlet Valve - ACME HOW TO.com
