Smile Ice Maker pouring water & overflowing ice tray
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: 363.58062892
Age: 5 - 10 years

For a few days I had a drip drip drip. Ice freezing up and wouldn`t dispense through door, plus water filled up on despenser door where the water & ice come out at. (motor running) This morning when the ice dumped out and began to fill up the tray I watched it completely overflow, pouring water very fast. and I had to pull the frig. out and turn the water off at the valve. I`ve read it may be the fill valve (sticking), and where it`s at. Is it a job a handy lady can do and if so could you tell me how step by step. Can it be fixed or have to be replaced?I would really appreciate any help.

Was the water dispenser working fine before you shut the water off?

The reason I am asking this is if it was a water pressure problem then you would have the same thing happening with the water dispenser.

If that is working fine then is likely to be your water in let valve .

The valve is located at the back of the fridge where the water line is hooked.

You should be able to replace it.

Here is a picture of your water valve.

Yes, the water dispenser was working fine. I`ll get the part and let you know how it goes. Thanks so much.

Another problem you might can help me with. Until I can replace the in let valve I just put a bag of ice I bought into the ice binuntil my ice maker is fix. But no ice will dispense on cube or crush. I can here the motor running like it`s trying to push the ice down through the door but no ice comes out, well I got two little slivers but it should drop out easily. Any suggestions?

The ice cubes that you bought may be to big, stuck together.

The auger may not be getting them in to place to move them down the shut.

The bag of ice are small cubes, almost crushed pieces, smaller then what my ice maker produces. They aren`t stuck together. Might the deal in the back of the ice maker that fits up into the bucket that turns the rotating spiral deal have something to do with it? Does it need to be lined up in a certain possition?

Yes, the auger has to be engaged with the motor.

I figured that. Is there a certain alignment that the auger should be lined up with in the opening of the ice bin? (the white plastic ring) inside the bin.

By the way I have removed the in let valve and going tomorrow to get a new one. I am 50 miles to the nearest town.

Replaced water in let valve. Now the ice tray isn`t filling but there is water in door dispenser. What now?
