My ice dispenser has buttons to switch from cubed ice to crushed ice. It will only dispense crushed ice. Tried to switch from crushed to cubed today & it just keeps on dispensing crushed.

There is a solenoid that switches it from crushed to cubed. If it is stuck or not working or switch is bad it will not change to cubed. Post your model number for more help.

Part 41 in this diagram is the crusher and part 13 directs the ice through it or bypasses it for cubed ice. Try watching what happens in yours when you use it. You'll have to hold the door switch in.Frigidaire FRS26R4CWE Parts List

Thanks Woodchuck. # 18 rod slides into a plastic peice which should move up for cubed ice I am guessing. Does the solenoid make this piece move which in turn moves the # 18 rod.

I don't see a rod labeled 18 but 46 may be the one your looking at. The solenoid will operate it. Make sure it is connected. Spring etc. Do you hear the solenoid when you try for ice. If you do hear it, more likely to be rod connections.

Sorry about the # mixup. I was thinking about the part that looked like it made part # 46 move. Anyway took ice bin out and moved the rod to where it would put out cubes, put bin back in and it is working. Must have been jammed??
