Default Ice Maker not working
Brand: Amana
Model Number: BR22TL
Age: 5 - 10 years

Had the ice maker on this freezer on the bottom refrigerator turned off, with the water line disconnected, for 2-3 days while we worked on the kitchen floor. Prior to this, the ice maker was producing good ice. The refrigerator remained on during this period.

I replaced the filter last night, then turned on the water and the ice maker. Nothing has happened since, except I hear a creaking noise in the freezer compartment. Have set the ice maker lever to the Off position, while I try to determine what the problem is.

Have verified water is flowing, at least into the back of the unit (I'm guessing that is the inlet solenoid).

How can I determine if the unit has "frozen" up? If so, can I simply remove the ice maker and let it thaw out?

thanks

To do the testing on the ice maker you will need a multi meter.

Here is a link on how to test your ice maker.

Here is a link to your fridge model BR22TL.

Spent a few minutes with a hair dryer. Was able to free up the mechanism in the ice maker. It was able to complete the cycle. Now will see if it will make new ice.
