my icemaker makes ice but when the button is pushed to dispence the ice nothing happens. i think the motor that runs the auger inside the box is locked up. is this the case or could there be another solution. it makes a whirring sound like it's trying to move but does nothing.

Take the ice bin out and look at the part in the back that turns the auger. Hold the door switch in and push the button for ice and see if it turns, hold it with your hand to see if it's slipping. There could be ice jammed in the ice tunnel in the bin. You can take the back plastic cover out to see the motor.
