Default Ice maker freezes up
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: GSS20IEMBWW
Age: 5 - 10 years

Hello,

I just purchased a whole new motor for the ice maker and the defroster tube.
My problem is the motor it self keeps freezing up. I am not sure what else to do but to purchase this part. # being PS 1017716 to see if this is the defroster timer.
Could you please tell me if this is what I am needing to keep the motor from freezing. Or could it be a fan though it does seem all the fans seem to be working. I would appreciate any help provided. Thank you.

Customer, Doreen Miles

Where do you see all the ice buildup. Where is the motor your talking about.

You have a motor inside your ice maker which shouldn't have ice unless your fill tube for the ice maker is somehow putting water on it. You have a motor(compressor) underneath the whole unit. There's a fan motor next to the compressor and a fan motor in the freezer in the back top of the freezer.
