Default Ice maker cycles slowly or not at all
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: 106 626636
Age: 5 - 10 years

Hi folks,
Modular ice maker in freezer above fridge. This darn thing is driving me nuts. I got the water level adjusted, I got it leveled. Fine. Nice big cubes. Solenoid works fine. Valve works fine. I didn't get the bail pushed into place completely, so it didn't cycle at all. Got that figured out. Bail in place, but it seems to cycle slowly. Heater works fine, I can feel it get hot on bottom of ice maker. It takes more like 3 or 4 hours instead of 2 to cycle. Got freezer temp set nice and low, around 15 degrees. I have been using a jumper across holes T and H to make it cycle during leveling etc. Then a few days ago, the jumper wouldn't make it cycle. Thought it was dead. Made no ice for 3 days. THEN... I left the bail UP... and low and behold it started making cubes again. Put the bail back down and it started working fine.

It's like the little mother board inside needed rebooting. Is there a way to make it cycle faster? Is there a reset somewhere? Is this just the last gasp of the tin goose before it dies completely...? Help!

Can you please verify your model number?

It should be on a tag in the fridge section with the serial number.

Here is a link to a list of part for your fridge model 106.9751783.

It could be that the motor is stalling out.

You can purchase the motor and module assembly.

Here is the module.
