Default Ice maker on blows breaker
Brand: Kenmore
Age: 5 - 10 years

I have a Kenmore side by side that has been in the garage running well for two years. I just ran a water line to hook up the ice maker today. When I turn on the ice maker after about 15 seconds the breaker blows. I have plugged it into a 20 amp outlet. If I turn the ice maker off, it's fine and I can still get water out of the door. I've taken the ice maker out and put it back in with no change.

First thing, did you check the wiring on the back of the freezer section of the ice maker, and underneath the refrigerator. Take off the back of the refrigerator, and look at the wiring. I am wondering if there is any wires, that could have been chewed on by a mouse possibly. Being you said it has been in your garage. I think you should look at all the wiring before you replace your ice maker. Check the wires of course with the refrigerator unplugged. If you need me you can reach me at my web site at ApplianceEducator.com Tom
