Default Ice Maker
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: MTB2156BE
Age: 5 - 10 years

What causes an ice maker to drip a bit of water in the ice bin? The ice maker makes ice but the dripping freezes half of it together. It drips right at the back, so we get an iceberg in the bin.

Thanks

Louis

The fill valve that is located at the back of the fridge may not be closing all the way.

Check and see if you can see the fill tube dripping.

Here is a link to your fridge model MTB2156BE.

Thanks Sheila,

Are you saying that the fill valve may be faulty?

It could be the valve or your water pressure to the fridge.

Water pressure is what closes the valve.

Check your water pressure.

Shut the water to the fridge off.

Remove the line and hold in a bucket while someone turns on the water.

If the pressure is not at least 20 psi. the valve will not close.
