Default Ice make over flows with water
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: 106.53232300
Age: 1 - 4 years

The ice maker over flowed with water and would not shut off even after lifting the arm. When I cleaned it out, there were no cubes in the try so I know it just dumped and started the fill but the water never shut off.

I replaced the value system. Now i don;t get any water to fill the tray. The water dispense does work fine. I pulled the fill line off teh back of the refrigerator and blew through it to make sure it was clear. This was fine.

I turned the ice make off and on by the arm but it still does not get water to flow. I poured water into the ice tray but it does not dump the ice.

What is the next thing I should check?

Thanks

You seem to have more than one problem. No water and won't dump the ice after you added water manually.

Make sure your new water inlet valve and the water line works by swapping the water lines at the valve and see if the water dispenser works with the ice maker line. If they're different sizes, swap the wires that plug into the valves and see if the water dispenser makes water go into ice maker.

Make sure the freezer is getting cold enough to make the ice maker work. Somewhere around 5 degrees is needed.

Then check the ice mold heater which has to come on to let the ice dump. Here's how to check that and other things. Ice Maker Diagnostic Guide: How To Fix an Ice Maker - ACME HOW TO.com

Thanks for the post.

I think I found the problem. When I removed the cover of the ice maker to check th continuity for the motor and the heating element I found the round disk with teeth all the way around it was not pushed in all the way.

I pushed it in and it started to active the motor like I believe it should. This is connected to the ejector. On the end of the ejector that goes into the disk with all the teeth on it, the plastic clips was broke so the two parts did not lock together. For some reason it must have caught and twisted just enough to snap the plastic end.

I held the disk on and the ice make went through a cycle of rotating the ejector all the way around and then turned the water value on. This all worked properly.

When looking at the parts list for ice maker model 106.53232300 (Kenmore) it does not show the small plastic end (that is broken). This is a seperate part that slips over the end of the ejector. The part list only shows the Module Assembly. I have search the web for parts but nothing shows this platic end. The sears web site has no pictures that shows it, that is why I think it is include only with the complete Module Assembly and i don't need all of that.

I have the Sears parts list but it is of no help for this particular piece.

Any ideas where to search for parts?
