Question Ice Dispenser won't dispense ice
Brand: Please select
Model Number: HSS25GFPJ WW
Age: 1 - 4 years

I have a Hotpoint side by side refigerator freezer that worked fine up until now. A few weeks ago I started hearing this whistling sound that drove us nuts. Now the sound is gone and our ice dispenser won't dispense any ice at all. The ice maker works fine and I have water and the lights on the outside door are working when I select ice, crushed ice or water. I lost water shortly for a day and went online to the GE website and it said to unplug the unit for 30 seconds and when i did i got the water back.I also opened the freezer door and held the button in to make the door seem closed, then i pressed the ice button and tried to dispense ice while i watched with the ice bucket removed and nothing happend. I still got water so I know I pressed the right button to make the door seem closed. The knob in back did not turn and nothing happened but one click and I saw this little white thing move up once and then nothing.I have no noise or anything. I am still under warranty but because I only have the credit card receipt they are refusing to honor it.We really want to get this fixed as soon as possible. Please help.

Here's a diagram and parts list for your model #. The ice auger motor is number 369 on the diagram. Check connections and see if it will turn.

Default saw diagram

Hi, I looked at the diagram.Im not sure how to check my connections though.I do know it won't turn because I took out the ice box and held the lever in with the door closed button pressed in and treid to get ice and the auger wouldnt turn.I got water out of the door but no ice and the auger did'nt budge and no sound was made but one click. The slot in back of the freezer that the icebox lever fits into when its in place and makes the ice box open up clicked and moved one time when I was watching. Thats all i got. Nothing lese happens.
Thanks

. Check to see if there is any voltage going to the motor when you push the switch. I believe there is also a solenoid (378) which engages the motor.

Default Ice Dispenser Problem

I see that this is an old thread but I am having a very similar, almost exactly the same, problem. I'm an electrician by trade so I can check anything for voltage or resistance as needed. However I would need an actual wiring diagram instead of the parts list, so I know which wires to check for what. When I attempt to dispence ice (crushed or cube) the door light dims, the dispensing door barely opens(not nearly far enough to alow flow of ice), and the auger does not function. It does dispense water with no problems though, and the light does not dim for the water. So far I have found that if you disconnect the solenoid (the one that opens the door to dispence ice into your cup) the auger will then function. I tried replacing the solenoid but it made no change. So I disconnected the door light and it will then open the dispensing door all the way but it still will not engage the auger if the solenoid is still connected. It does the same thing with the old solenoid too. I am currently thinking it would be the front control/display, but I was hoping for some input before I order it. It does seem to be the focal point for the problem. Is there any kind of power supply located elsewhere that I should check? Or am I correct with the display/control?
