Angry Ice Dispenser not Dispensing
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: MSD2651HEW
Age: 1 - 4 years

The ice dispenser makes ice but will not dispense it llike it used to. The auger still turns when activated, but it will randomly dispense an ice cube. It would take five minutes or more to fill a glass. I emptied the bin and checked everything but cannot find anything blocking it. I searched this forum but cannot find anyone else having this problem. This is driving me crazy. Please help!!!!

Is the auger ride up on the ice cube when it is turning?

You will likely need help to watch the auger.

Have some push the dispenser paddle while you hold the light switch closed and watch the auger.

You may have a broken Helix end cap that is in the ice bucket.

Here is a link to your fridge model MSD2651HEW.

While the auger is turning, the ice seems to bunch up on one side of the bin. Facing the icemaker the ice bunches up to the right side as the auger turns. How can I tell if the Helix end cap is broken?

Yes, it turns completely and bunches the ice to one side as previously described.

If the auger is making full revolutions it should be pushing the cubes forward.

There has to be something broken in the bucket.

You will have to remove the ice bucket and inspect the parts.

That is what it is doing, bunching the ice up to the right hand side and forward. i inspected it and it is making full revolutions but not dispensing the ice except one every minute or so.

Are any of the cubes stuck together?

Take the ice bin out empty it and clean it.

Make sure it is completely dry before you reinstall it.

Make sure that the ice shoot door is opening.
