Ice dispenser locking up Brand: Amana Model Number: ASD262RHRW Age: 1 - 4 years Our ice dispenser keeps locking up on us and I take it apart each time and see that the auger has slipped out of the collar that couples it to the motor. It looks to me like it is jamming up and then the motor keeps going for a second and causes the coupler to spin free from the auger. The bucket itself was cracked so I replaced it--thinking that the crack was causing some play in the auger and allowing it to move more freely then it should and causing it to jam up. But after replacing the bucket, it still does the same thing. The first picture is of the auger outside of the retaining collar for the coupler. The second picture is of the coupler taken from the motor end---so it is where the motor couples with the dispenser.
I can't seem to determine what is going on here and causing it to lock up. If I remove the bucket after it has locked up, it takes a few minutes for the motor to work again but then it works fine in both directions. If I remove the auger and get it back correctly in the collar, it will work for a few pieces of ice and then it locks up again. The auger looks to be in great shape--no visible signs of wear or damage---same goes for al of the other parts involved.
Any ideas?? I am hoping I do not have to call a repairman for this but I can't seem to figure it out! |
