Default Ice/Water Dispenser Not Working

I believe I have the same problem. My light dims when I try to dispense ice or water. I removed the light to see what effect it would have and then both the ice and water dispenser work!

At first I thought there may be a loose connection not allowing enough current flow, but then I noticed that when I have the bulb screwed in and press the dispenser lever, if the refrigerator is running, it will temporarily cut off and then resume in a couple of seconds. It seems like this is a controller problem or something is causing the controller to shut things off.

I read on GE's website that if the dispenser is not working, you may need to unplug the frig for 30 seconds. It said this is due to a static electricity problem affecting the controller when pulling the tray out. I'm wondering if the static electricity problem fried mine.

I'm perturbed at GE because this frig is only a year and a half old, and they want $70 to come look at it. I think I'll just run without the light for as long as I can ... and buy from someone else next time.

I am having a similar problem. Looks like the auger motor is not getting any power. I don't see the light dimming at all, the flap does not open on the door, but the other little switch that is next to the motor hums and seems to be fine. When I took the wires off of the other little switch and put them on the motor, the motor worked find and the door flap opened. This is leading me to believe that the power to the motor is the problem. Checked with a volt meter as well and don't get anything.
Not sure what needs to be replaced to take care of the bad power line coming into the auger motor.
