ICE COLD freezer, warm fridge Brand: Please select Model Number: GE GSS22JSFPA Age: 5 - 10 years Hello all,
The fridge started acting up several months ago. freezer cold, ffridge warm 80 deg. The technician came out and serviced it. he said that ice from the icemaker had frozen the bypass dooor shut.
He cleared the obstructioon and things were good for 4 months. THEN, it happened again. The fixit man that came out said that the door was shut, so he opened it. the fridge worked for about a week.
Now, it wont stay cool on the fridge side. Freezer is cold as ICE. I check the bypass door and it ALWAYS closed. After reading some excellent advice on this forum, i tried playing with the temp settings. I tried diff settings, freezer mid, fridge mid, either colder/hottter. No luck.
I tried lodging the door open, but then the freezer started to defrost.
Should the door be under electronic control? Opening when the temp starts to drop in the fridge side only?
It sounds like I may have a bad thermostat on the fridge side.
Im in Hawaii, so parts wont be as plentiful as central chicago, but still any advice here?
Additionally, the fridge's Icemaker auger doesnt turn, resulting in an amalgam of ice cubes.
Is it time for a new fridge? or are these repairs easy to do?
Thanks so much in Advance! |
