Default I think I have the part, now what....?

Hi,

not sure where to install the motherboard. In the fridge behind the thermostat settings in the top center, I removed the cover and found an electronic board.

However, I have either found something that is not the motherboard (they dont look at all the same) or have the wrong part. I have a part numbered WR55X129.

If I do have the correct part, could someone advise how to properly install?

thanks.
Ric

First a couple of questions.

What is the model number of your fridge?

What was the problem with your fridge that made you think you needed a mother board?

Rick the mother board is behind the refrigerator, in a panel by itself. That is not a mother board part #. By your part #, I know you have a GE. Tom

Hi,

many thanks for your responses.

the fan makes a loud humming noise just as mesquiter described. I have a gSL25wgph bs GE side by side refrigerator. The noise seems to be getting louder in the last few weeks.

The few posts on forums like this one seem to all point to the motherboard. I therefore ordered part WR55X129 based upon what I found on partselect and spoke to GE to confirm it is the right part.

If this is not the right part, would you kindly advise as to the correct part number?

Warm regards,
Ric

The part that you have is the board for the dispenser on the front of the freezer door.

If the fan is speeding up and then slowing down it is the mother board that you will need.

The mother board is located at the back of the fridge behind a panel.

Here is a link to your fridge model gSL25wgph.

The mother board is number 801 on the sealed system and mother board breakdown.

For a more detail parts list of your fridge you will need the last two letters of your model number.

Default thanks and clarification

the model number I have gSL25wgph ["bs"] but will that make a difference in the motherboard I need to purchase or are they universal for gSL25wgph models?

I unplugged the fridge last night and looked in the panel, it seems like a fairly straightforward disconnect and reconnect task. Are there any tricks/tips to keep an eye out for?

many thanks again

Here is a link to your fridge model gSL25wgphbs.

The BS at the end of your model is likely just a feature difference like color but it always best to order parts with your full model number.

The mother board is the same.

The only thing that you should make sure you do is where a grounding strap when installing the board. Static charges can damage the board.

You can buy a grounding strap at any electronic shop.
