Default How to reinsert wire shutoff arm?
Brand: Whirlpool
Model Number: ED27DQXWW10
Age: 5 - 10 years

This is really frustrating... My mother has a Whirlpool Designer Style ED27DQXWW10 with an ICEMAGIC icemaker.

Somehow, the wire shutoff arm has come off of the icemaker. I need to reinsert the arm, but while the icemaker is in the freezer, I can't see that opposite side of the icemaker part where I need to insert the wavy part of the arm!

I'd rather not take the icemaker out. I've searched online for a diagram or picture that shows this part, but it never is shown from that side! I don't have a phone with a camera or a digital camera handy to take a picture of the other side.

Can someone please describe how I can reinsert the wire shutoff arm from the point of view of standing outside the open door of the freezer?

Default

Take the cover off the ice maker.

In the top right corner of the ice maker just below the screw you will see the hole where the arm goes into.

Use a flash light so you can see where the arm is.

At the back of the ice make where the fill cup is there is a hole that the other end of the arm goes.

Here is a link to your fridge model ED27DQXWW10.

Default I'm too high-tech!

The problem was that I couldn't see the side where I needed to insert the arm...

I feel stupid... I'm so used to high-tech solutions that I was panicking because I didn't have a cell phone with a camera or a digital camera that I could use to take a picture of the other side so I could see where the hole the arm went into was. My sister-in-law's brother was over fixing something else, and when I asked him about this he said "I have a mirror I can use to look at it!" DOH! I didn't even think of a mirror!

With the mirror, we were easily able to find the hole where the arm belonged and re-insert it.
