Sheila or anyone,

I was wondering if you could direct me to where I can find out how to force a defrost cycle for my Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: 106.55616400
It has electronic control board.

See if you have a manual behind the condenser grill at the front bottom of the unit.It should tell how.

You are the king Woodchuck!! I did indeed have that manual albeit a little daunting for my tiny brain to comprehend. It didn't do exactly as expected. I removed the back from the freezer and boy was it frozen up. I went through the component tests:

FC Thermistor said "1" which I think is pass as looks like 02 is fail
RC Thermistor "1"
Evaporator fan motor worked
Compressor and condensor fan worked
Air baffle motor worked
Defrost heater came on

The only thing I'm not sure of is the thermistor as on the sheet it looks like it could be a "0" for pass instead of "1". In any event it did not fail "2"
I'm letting it completely thaw out now. Anyone have any further advice on where to go from here?

If all the test past then you will have to replace the control.

Here is a link to the parts of your fridge model 106.55616400.

The part is called control board assembly (temperature) (cntrl-elec).
