Default How can you test the jazz board
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: MBF1956HES
Age: 1 - 4 years

I used to be in the HVAC bus about 15 yrs ago. it has changed alot.
I went to check out a friend refrigerator. is a kenmoe with the freezer in th elower door. it's not defrosting. I know that it's not a pluged water drain problem.
I looked for the timer but could not find it. well it does not have one. come to find out it has some kind of jazz board (electronic circuit board). I checked the defrost heater and it was ok. I bypass the defrost thermoostat.. ran the fridge for about 4 days and it started doing the same thing.

is there a way to send this boy iinto defrost? I looked at the manual online... but could not determined this. i'm not 100% sure that replacing the ecb will fix this problem. it could be a faulty connection or loose wire or even back voltage.

is anyone familiar with this.

your help is apreciated.

thank you

mario

The forced defrost function is performed using the refrigerator display and keypad.

To enter the forced defrost mode hold the refrigerator door light switch closed.

Press the refrigerator temperature down (-) keypad 3 times consecutively.

This must be done within 10 seconds.

Release the refrigerator door light switch.

The control will display Fd to confirm entry into the forced defrost mode.

Entry is confirmed by pressing the refrigerator down key once more. The unit is off and in the defrost mode.

The control will default to the short run period test. This will show a S in the refrigerator display.

Once the mode is in the display confirm the forced defrost by pressing the refrigerator down key once.

The defrost will begin immediately and the display will return to a normal operating display with set point values.

Close the refrigerator door. You are now in the defrost mode.

You may find the technician sheet in behind the kick plate or in the control panel.

Here is a link to the fridge model MBF1956HES.
