Default Hotpoint Ref/freezer
Brand: Hotpoint
Model Number: CSX22BC
Age: 5 - 10 years

With the thermostat set for 5 and the freezer set for 5 to 9, the freezer will vary in temperature from 10 degrees to 45. It does not seem to matter where between 5 and 9 it is set, the temp. varies widely, This unit does sit outside on a screened in porch. Coils are clean. Refrigerator seems to hold its temp okay. Any suggestions? Thanks, Jim

Temp control is also dependant on the ambient temp

If the porch is cold, then the fridge side never warms up and the compressor never comes on. Therefore the defrost does not run properly, the compressor does not come on after a defrost to cool down the freezer side properly.
