Question Help with installing a Facade Insert at the Fountain Section
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: PSD262LHEW
Age: 1 - 4 years

I received a PS1012617 INSERT, FACADE (WHT) (Series 50) part and would like to know if it is alright to clean the old one really good and attach the new piece right on top or do I have to remove the old one first? There is enough clearance to go right on top and it will still be slightly recessed from the surrounding door face and the selection lights still light up plainly. I am not too sure about whether there is anything to attach the new one to if I remove the old one first. Can you help point me in the right direction? The original one should not have cracked as it did at all 3 of the selection points as it is not that old and has been cracked since it was only 14 months old and I think if I leave the old one it will make it stronger than when new and probably not ever crack again. Thanks,Howard King

I would not put over top old one.You should be able to gently pry the corner up with a utility knife and peel off.Be carefull to align new one exactly over proper switch detents in console
