Default Help with Compressor Tools
Brand: General Electric
Age: More than 10 years

I want to replace a compressor in a fridge. Can someone direct me to the tools I am going to require to complete this job in accordance with EPA standards: ie. reclamation tank, freon tank, guages, solder and brazing tools. I want to know I have all the tools required to perform compressor replacement on any frigerator

Thanks

The tools for this job are in the hundreds of dollars.

This type of repair is best left to a qualified technician.

In a lot of cases you can not buy freon R12 or 134A unless you have a license.

The only thing that come to mind that you do not have listed is a charging cylinder and sand paper.

If you plan on doing both 134A and R12 you will have to have two sets of gages and two charging cylinders because you can not mix the two different refrigerants.
