Default Hearing a buzzing sound near compressor then a snap
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: mzd2766geq
Age: 5 - 10 years

I'm hearing a buzzing sound then a snap coming from near the compressor. But the compressor does not go on, and both fridge and freezer are warm. I'm trying to find out how to determine if the problem could be the PTC relay or the run capacitor. What are there purposes and how can I tell which one is causing the problem. Can anyone help?

I found the problem myself and fixed it. I ordered the capacitor and the PLC overload relay assembly and replaced both. It took about 20 minutes and the fridge is now working just fine and cooling properly. To remove the old relay assembly just pull straight off the old relay assembly that is encased in a beige plastic cover. Just pull the plastic cover straight to the left away from the compressor and then you will be able to follow the directions and figure out how to put the new parts, (which are a little different than the original).
