Default Have I ruined my fridge
Brand: Whirlpool
Model Number: ET18HKXSW05
Age: More than 10 years

I moved a free fridge on it's side and plugged it in when I got home. It ran for five hours while I was out and I unplugged it when I got home.

Have I ruined it?

The condensor was warm as were two of the pipes leading away from it, however, the heat did not go up very far and the other pipes were not very cold.

You should have left it upright for several hours befor plug in. Now compressor oil has clogged the capllary. You will nedd a pro to fix it.

Default warning label needed

I had absolutely no idea you were not suppose to lay them down. I moved one from Idaho to Portland Oregon one year and had no trouble. I even looked at the warning labels on the back of this one to see if there was a problem with laying it down to move it. Nothing, nada!

Some of the modern refrigerators drain off the compressor oil back to the compressor faster than others, so you where lucky the ist time.
Now a tech. will remove all the refrigerant and file cut the capilliary , and blow the oil out with nitrogen gas. Then re-charge.
About a $200 job by a pro.
