Hello i have a Haier chest freezer, it started with the freezer not getting cold i unplug and let defrost now when i plug in the unit the compressor starts running then it shuts off. Almost seems the compressor starts running but shutoff. could it be the temp controller on the unit is Bad.

If the freezer was running but not getting cold it is possible that there is a leaking the system.

If it was running for some time with a leak it may have damage the compressor.

Does the freezer try to restart on it own?

I have not heard of the Haier brand before, where is it from?

yes after 24 hours unpluged, it starts running for about 3 minutes it sounds normal the compressor is not making any un normal noise. could it be the thermostat!!

It could be the thermostat.
