Question Grinding noise from new icemaker
Brand: Amana
Age: 5 - 10 years

Just received a replacement ice maker, (1359676), and installed it with no problem.
The ice maker is making ice but I believe there may be a problem with it.
During the process of ejecting the ice cubes there's a loud gear grinding noise. In observing it this only occurs during the time the ejector arms engage the ice and have to wait for the heater to loosen the cubes from the tray. It lasts approximately one minute and is very loud but stops as soon as the ice is loosened and starts to move.
I have checked every aspect of the installation and find no alignment problems or anything wrong that would cause this other than something internal to the ice maker.
The old ice maker didn't make this noise but did leak and is why I replaced it.
Is there something I can do about this or could it be a defective new ice maker?
Thanks for any help.
