The following is how one person solved his problem.
I then cut an eight by eight inch piece of insulation material ... looks like bubble wrap with tin-foil outer cover ... and taped to inside of freezer door over where I thought the water tube would be routed. This patch ... not that bad looking to me ... worked for several weeks. There is a heater in the door and mine kept the line from freezing for 3 1/2 years before apparently starting to fade. FYI ... even though the insulation did the trick, my wife complained to GE and they sent a tech to install a smaller supplemental heater around the tube in the dispenser area ... it took 10 minutes and the bill was $136. Kit part number was WR49X10173. It appeared simple to install but I didn't know it existed ... and I still have the insulation in place. |
