Default GE Side x Side Not dispensing water
Brand: General Electric
Age: 1 - 4 years

I have a three year old GE side x side refridgerator that stopped dispensing water and ice. I replaced the double valve at the back of the fridge as well as the water filter.
Ice maker began working again. Unfortunately I can not get the water to dispense through the door. I disconnected the line at the bottom of the freezer door before it enters the freezer and was able to get water from hitting the water button. Once I connected to the line again I was not able to get water to dispense.
I am open to suggestions. Thanks!

Water line is probably frozen in the freezer door. Try hair dryer on dispenser end of water line. May take several minutes. Some have forced warm water into hose line to thaw.

Slightly raise temp of freezer to maybe prevent it from happening again.

I have tried raising the temperature, but it keeps freezing up. Do you have any other suggestions?

The following is how one person solved his problem.

I then cut an eight by eight inch piece of insulation material ... looks like bubble wrap with tin-foil outer cover ... and taped to inside of freezer door over where I thought the water tube would be routed. This patch ... not that bad looking to me ... worked for several weeks. There is a heater in the door and mine kept the line from freezing for 3 1/2 years before apparently starting to fade. FYI ... even though the insulation did the trick, my wife complained to GE and they sent a tech to install a smaller supplemental heater around the tube in the dispenser area ... it took 10 minutes and the bill was $136. Kit part number was WR49X10173. It appeared simple to install but I didn't know it existed ... and I still have the insulation in place.
