Talking GE side-by-side will not dispense
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: GSH25JSRFSS
Age: 1 - 4 years

I have a GE side by side and the ice and water dispenser have stopped working. The ice maker is producing ice. Based on searching the forums indicated it was most likely the mother board. One of the key symptoms: when the dispenser lever was pressed the light would dim for a few secs and ice door slowly opened but no auger turn; eventually the door would slowly close and light would return to normal intensity.

So, I ordered a ASM main board WR55X10552 (according to another forum info this superceded WR55X10473). Oddly the part inside the box said WR55X10151 but Cust Service said it was equivalent. Still puzzles me because the board didn not appear to have enough little black-boxes on it.

Installed the board but still ice and water dispenser are not working. However, the symtoms changed a little. When the dispenser lever is pushed the unit seems to get plenty more power than before indicated by light staying very bright and no dimming and the ice door popping out with vigor. But thats it still no ice nor water.

Any clues or advise would be greatly appreciated.

Really need ideas on what else besides ASM main board (since I've replaced it already) could cause symptoms described in my first post.

Thanks,
David C.

Thanks for reply, that fixed my water but still the ice dispenser will not work. Could the dispenser circuit board be the issue?

Regards,
David

1st things 1st or cheaper things first. Make sure both sides of water inlet valve work. Swap wires or lines or Refrigerator Repair Guide: How to Check the Water Inlet Valve - ACME HOW TO.com

Woodchuck,

Do you know if the replacement ASM board that I received WR55X10151 could actually come in two flavors? One that supports dispenser and one that is non-dispenser model?

I just took another hard look at the board and it has a template (for components I guess) imprinted on the "green" part of the ASM board. Like outline of the small black components on my old board but they are not on the new board.

The ice dispenser DOES NOT work. Help!! I am really at a dead-end on how to proceed.

Thx,
David C.

I don't know but you have more than one solid state module on this diagram and parts list.
