your water line could be frozen in the door. You can disconnect the line under the unit before it goes into the door at the bottom hinge. Push the dispenser button and see if it comes out there. If it does try a hair dryer blowing where the water line is at the dispenser for a few minutes. Raising the temp of freezer slightly might prevent it from happening again. I don't think the water would come out without the filter being installed. try swapping the wires which plug into the solenoid at the inlet valve. This way the water dispenser should send water to the ice maker and you'll know if the ice maker line is open.

Thanks for the resonse. No, water does not come out from the line under the hinge of the freezer door.

Can anyone confirm that water should come from where the filter connects if the filter is out?
