Default GE side by side Icemaker problem
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: TFX22ZP
Age: Please select

They say a picture is worth a thousand words so here is what i'm looking at.

I believe from the sticker on the inside of the fridge door that the model number is TFX22ZP, however, it also lists the numbers 25 and 27 in place of the 22 in the aforementioned model #.

I am unsure of the age of the unit as it was here when I purchased the house. When I connected the water supply line to the back I found that the supply line to the door dispenser was broken just above the bottom hinge in the door. It was an easy fix splicing some of the surplus 1/4"supply line to the broken 5/16" line in the door. That night the ice maker seemed to function properly but a few days later the ice failed to come out of the dispenser while you can hear the motor running. It still seems to make cubes however I have to believe that this excess ice accumulation is the root of my current problem.

Any insight is appreciated.

I have had this happen when my water inlet valve kept leaking slowly after in filled the ice tray. The water will also be frozen in the fill tube. You can take the line to ice maker off at the water valve and observe if it keeps dripping. Here's your water inlet valve. Part 798 or 795. TFX22ZP Parts List

The fill tube was frozen.
I replaced the icemaker and the valve and so far so good.
I had originally purchased the IM-6 kit only to find out that the included vavle was not the one I needed so I had to purchase the valve (which was probably the original problem) seperatly for about the same price as the whole kit. Live and learn.
