Cool GE Select will not dispense Water
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: SSS25SGPA SS
Age: 1 - 4 years

The water dispenser stopped working, I can get water out at the bottom of the door by disconnecting the quick disconnect and activating the dispense lever, but somewhere in the door, the water does not get through.

The Ice maker, and dispenser work fine.

Thank you.

The water tube can freeze in the freezer door. If your gasket is held on with screws you can remove the inside of the door to access the tube to thaw and to provide extra insulation to prevent it from freezing again.

You can try to thaw it with a blow dryer around the dispenser where it's most likely to freeze.

Is it possible that one side of the water valve (on the back of the fridge) is malfunctioning? I would like to hear comment on that, as I have the same problem....and mine is a GE as well.

Night2B Yes only one side can be bad and the other good. try swapping the wires which plug into the solenoid at the inlet valve.

This way the water dispenser should send water to the ice maker.

CHRIS CRAFT If you can get to the end at the dispenser and fasten the new tube to it then pull the other end at the bottom of the door you may can get it in that way.

Woodchuck....sure sounds logical. I will try that first thing tomorrow and perhaps solve my long-standing problem. Water dispenser not that vital to us, so I've let it go on for six months or so. Thanks much for the info....really appreciate it.

PS Woodchuck.... just re-read your msg. My problem is no water from water dispenser....icemaker okay. Same difference, I guess....switching wires should send the icemaker water to the water dispenser. And if it doesn't, I believe I may be looking for an ice jam in the line somewhere. Thanks.
