Question GE Refrigerator Water dispenser
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: PSI23MGNA
Age: 1 - 4 years

The water dispenser does not work, but the ice dispenser does. We just purchased a model home that had this GE Profile Arctica side-by-side refrigerator in it. The water dispenser worked once or twice and stopped working. I just replaced the filter thinking that perhaps there was frozen water involved but there wasn't. My husband thinks it is the water valve. What should he check for?

Yes it does sound like the valve.

It is located at the back of the fridge where the water line hooks.

The model number for the fridge should be located in the fridge section on a tag.

Same problem. Wy would the icemaker get water and not the water dispenser itself? I changed the filter also.

You have a dual outlet water inlet valve. Ice maker and dispenser are separate.
Refrigerator Repair Guide: How to Check the Water Inlet Valve - ACME HOW TO.com

If valve checks out ok , your water line could be frozen in the door near the dispenser.

Default GE Refrigeratro Water Dispenser not working

I have a similar issue with a GE Refr Model 25U FPA BB 182A. The ice maker is working fine, but the water dispenser won't work. I have changed the dual water valve, but I still don't have water. Another review warned that it would take some time to get water through the system, but I set a glass under the dispenser for about 10 minutes and still no water. I checked the circuit board in the back. The small relays seem to "click" for the water, ice, and crushed ice when triggered. The dual solenoid valve seems to click when activated. What is my next option? What am I missing?

Try disconnecting the water line at the inlet valve and press water dispenser. If water comes out of valve disconnect water line at junction under freezer just before it goes through bottom door hinge into door. If water comes out there when you press dispenser then it's probably frozen in door near dispenser. Use hair dryer to melt and maybe a slight raising of temp setting in freezer will prevent it from happening again.

Default Intake valve repair

Thanks Woodchuck. I had difficulty removing the hoses and am concerned that forcing them out might break something. What's the trick? Hw does one open the valve to clean? I would hate to cut the lines and replace with a new valve, only to find out the filter was clogged.

You probably have the quick release type where you push the line in and push the ring and hold it and the line will pull out.

woodchuck. I found the connection at the hinge and had water there. Used hair dryer along edge of door and finally got water! Great advice and guidance. Thanks much!

Thanks, as well. I got my water going. Problem at the hinge, not the valve. P.S . How does one open the valve to clean?
