Cool GE Profile Ice maker not making ice
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: PSS26MSWA
Age: Less than 1 year

Ice maker will not dispense ice into bin once it is frozen. Water dispenser works fine, new filter change, ice maker freezes ice, but does not kick it out into the bin. I tried to reset the ice maker as suggested by a GE customer service rep. This involved turning the ice maker off for 15 seconds, turning it back on, then moving the large white plastic tab back and forth three times. This did kick out one batch of ice, but now it is not working again. Please advise. Both my wife and I work and are not able to be home for the GE tech to replace the ice maker. Is there something else I should try first? Thank you.

What is the temperature in the freezer? It must be five degrees or below for the ice maker to work properly.

The temperature in the freezer is 0 degrees f. It is actually making the cubes but will not dispense into the bin once the cubes are frozen.

OK the freezer is cold enough.

Is the feeler arm that is under the ice maker all the way in?

Here is a link to your fridge model PSS26MS.

I think I figured out the problem. There is a small spring that holds the feeler arm out to sense the ice. I realized that the spring had popped out of a small hole that holds it in place and was not pushing the feeler arm back forward. Basically, once I popped the spring back into the little hole, the feeler arm stays in the forward position. What I am disappointed about is the fact that the rep from GE didn't even mention the spring or the position that the feeler arm should be in. It should naturally be all the way forward due to the spring tension. Thank you for your reply. I now have ice!!!! Without a weekday off of work for a service call to tell me that the spring was out of position. Thanks, fhzwart
