Default GE Icemaker Overflows
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: TFX25CR
Age: 5 - 10 years

Woke up one morning and found water in front of the refridgerator. So far I've been able to determine it is overfilling the ice maker. I can unplug the ice maker for several days or even just turn it off with the lever and it does not leak. Then when I turn on the icemaker, I can see the water fill into it, then it overflow into a cup I put under it so water doesn't go everywhere.

What controls how much water goes into the ice maker?

Thanks,
John

Icemaker usually activates water solenoid for 9 seconds. If much longer than that you probably have a defective icemaker. You will need a meter to confirm as it also could be just a water valve delaying shutoff

Is the icemaker the metal tray with the heating element underneath? I took apart the icemaker and measured out the resistors with an ohm meter and checked the other components and it seemed fine.

Where is the control panel for the ice maker water valve solenoid? Is it this?
