Question G.E. Makes Crushed Ice Only
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: TFH24PRSMWW
Age: 5 - 10 years

My ice maker is only dispensing crushed ice. I figured it was the selector board and replaced it. It's still only dispensing crushed. What else could be wrong and where do I begin looking?
Thanks

There is a solenoid that changes the dispenser from crushed to cubed.

It is a part of the ice bin.

Here is a link to your fridge model TFH24PRSMWW.

Thanks for the reply. I see several solenoids listed. Which one specifically deals with the crushed/cubed selection?

Number 378 in the freezer section is the solenoid for the crushed/cubed selection.

Since my fridge is old, I'm single and don't care for crushed ice I used a long plastic wire tie and lifted part 329 up and looped the back corner of the ice bin.

This raised the flap in front that holds the cubes against the crusher blades by default.

I say part 329, its the long bar running the length of the ice bin and hooked to that flap. Easily identifiable when the ice bucket and auger assembly [one part] are removed.
