Default Fuse blows once every 3 months
Brand: Maytag
Age: 1 - 4 years

Like it says above really, the our side-by-side Maytag runs fine but trips the circuit every so often. Its been fine for 3 months, now this time resetting everything has not cured it.

I had a good look around the back, vacuumed out all the dust and can't really see anything that might be wrong.

Is there a relay somewhere that might have failed?

In the UK Maytag will charge £150 just to show up - looks like this majestic refridgerator might end up on the scrapheap. If a £5 relay might save it that would be great

Thank you. That is a good model number.

Do the lights come on in the fridge or is the fridge totally dead?

Its totally dead because its not connected to the power

When I plug in & switch on, the whole circuit trips out at the breaker-switch.

What you have is a short circuit.

This may be in the defrost circuit.

You can try turning the defrost timer until you hear it click.

Then try switching your breaker back on. If the fridge runs then you know that the problem is in the defrost circuit.

Your defrost timer is located in the control panel.

All you will see is a little button like thing sticking out of the panel. Turn this with a screw driver until you here it click.

Tell me what happens.
