Talking Funny actin' freezer
Brand: Amana
Age: More than 10 years

Hello, new guy here. the funny part to me is that a thermometer says the freezer is at 25 degrees but nothing will freeze except water. I have noticed that the sides of the unit down by the freezer door is always warm, like maybe the defrost cycle is on? I did the ol' slip a piece of paper out from the gaskets trick and it is ok. Faulty timer? I know, I know "heres your sign!" Thanks

Check the coils in the freezer for a frost build up.

If they are frosted over there is a fault in the defrost cycle.

The defrost timer is located at the back of the fridge.

With the compressor running turn the knob on the timer until the fridge shuts off.

Wait 20 to 25 minutes and watch for the defrost water going in the pan.

If the fridge does not start after the 25 minutes turn the knob on the timer until it does.

If the fridge starts on it own but did not defrost it has a faulty heater or bi metal.

You will need a meter to check these.

Here is a link to your fridge model BX22S5L.

Here is the defrost timer.
